It SNOWED It SNOWED!

My Lumiani Lindsay2 Boots after I ventured out in the snow!

Hi! Long time no blog... sorry... but I know ya'll understand... busy busy busy as usual! But I had a great holiday and I'm only 6 days out from BOWL WEEK ( ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh). I'm going to do my best to bring ya'll along on the ride with me... but I got a feeling there won't be much time for snapping photos! I didn't buy myself anything for Christmas but now I'm scrambling as I need functional, appropriate and fashionable outfits for next week... I did however score new spectacles which will follow this post! Seasons Greetings to you all!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOOOOOOTBALLL?

VIP: I'm having such a hard time figuring out who to give my comp tickets too! It's a super special honor for me to work for the Bowl Game and I only want to share it with those that I feel really deserve it!... le sigh...
THE PERKS: Some totally cool gear! I'm getting a little sad that the game is so close because that means I only have a few weeks left on my contract :( But I'm superrrrrrrrrr excited about the game and especially bowl week because there is nothing like the feeling of a successful event!
THE BALL: I know right... I feel so SUPER DUPER cool!
A football with MY NAME on it! WOW I say... just WOW!

THE ALL SEEING EYE

Put your hands where my eyes can see... and right now that's pretty far away! yay! New eye gear on deck. I'm pretty modern simplistic with my choices and the most outlandish glasses I have had to date have been my red theo's that everyyyyyybody loved but until I find a place in life where I feel pretty comfortable and don't have to be subjected to others first appearance stereotypes I plan to stay pretty tame in the frame department... besides my mom owns a pair similar to this in red... and she looks super cute in them!

Open my fridge and chances are you will see a door loaded with FIJI(I keep Dasani and Perrier on hand for my guest). Yes, my friends think it's a bit pretentious (sn:check out the new silver FIJI bottle holders) but... I'm not a big water fan and in order for me to drink it I need encouragement... and the well designed FIJI bottle does just that !

TWINS: FRATERNAL

Tiffany and Co: Travel Jewelry Case
When I first saw leather items on the Tiffany's site... I knew they had a collectible appeal... I purchased the Travel Jewelry box a few years ago and it made an appearance in a post here ...
Well to my surprise as I shopped for glassware... I couldn't help but take a peek at the leather goods... and I see that Tiffany's has redesign the case from a snap closure to a zipper closure!
I love the small leather pieces from the company... it gives you unexpected and discreet luxury... and it seems that Tiffany's has launched a larger collection of leather purses... I'm not sure how I feel about that but if LV can purchase stake in Hermes... whose to say The Co can't design great handbags... Oh and I will be adding the redesign to my collection!

CHECK THE LIST : MY WISHES

The Met Store: Baroque Glasssource
I've made a pledge to be as green as I can manage so I don't own any paper plates etc... and I'm in need of some glasses... and since Tiffany's every day seems a bit extreme to most I'll settle for these beauties priced at just 10 bucks per piece!

"Attributed to the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company between 1820 and 1840, the original “Baroque revival” shell and the repeating palmettes of the tumbler on which the Museum's glass is based, are splendidly contrasted with vertical ribbing reflecting the classical style from the early nineteenth century and signifying a departure from the use of imitation geometric cut patterns. Glass. 8 oz. 3 1/2''H. "

BEAR: Oh really...okkkkkay
ME: I was about to call Yellow Cab and then I was like oh yeah I was suppose to call that new guy..

LML:MILLIONS

Princess Diana's Wedding Ring:
The Modern Day Hope Diamond... #igottostepmyprincessgameup

It's the day after Thanksgiving and while I have so much to be thankful for... my mind is nowhere near at rest. Don't get me wrong. I have had an amazingggg time with my family this Holiday and I wouldn't trade that for any peace in the world! Unfortunately the last month has been shadowed in death by two of my peers both under 30 and both known for living their lives to the fullest! The Fullest.... when i reflect... I can't quite grasp the fullest... I'm now watching How I Made My Millions.... When it went to commercial they posted a email link of how to send your story in of how you made your million... I saw that and in my soul i said soon I'm going to send my story in... it's  not about the number or the possibility of life stress the number could bring me ... which brings me to my life... it should be the happiest time for me and I tell you a month ago it was I knew nothing different than the joy and pride my new found successes had brought... I constantly found myself stopping and thanking god... and I'm still thankful... for years one of my excuses for wanting to move to a "big city" was so that I could gain credibility... it took me time to look around and figure how much more work I would have to do to make it in my "small city" What's more credible/rewarding than that? I thought and still think it can be done... but what's most important to me is that I am happy and what makes me happy is providing the best products/services I can.... I also used "I need to work for a major company so that people will respect my abilities".... well right here in my small city I've been afforded that luxury too... I mean the name recognition of the company alone turns heads.... and I couldn't be more excited about this opportunity ... but god works in funny ways... he's given me four months with this company... and while I know I should just be enjoying it and soaking up all of the knowledge.... because I do trust him... my mind is already spinning in thoughts of two months from now.... I feel like I have all of the pieces but I just don't have the wisdom to put it all together... I feel so close... but so far away... I feel stupid but I know I'm a genius... I am thankful that I can feel.... On a less heavy note... I have discovered this amazing blog... the guy gives me such hope that normal men with feelings do exist lol... I of course want to keep him to myself but I guess I will share him soon! lol! oh and more post to follow as well!

THE REVIEW: JACKSONS BAR AND BISTRO

REVIEW: It's super hard to find good "normal" brunch in the city... and after scouring the Internet menus and placing numerous calls my visiting friend and I headed out to JACKSON'S BAR AND BISTRO!
FRENCH- ONION HASHED BROWNS
SERVICE: It wasn't our first time visiting Jackson's and from our previous experience we were a bit hesitant. The normal Sunday brunch crowd was out and we were seated pretty quickly. Our server was extremely nice and efficient! The management was very accommodating as my friend is expecting and her taste buds were all over the place... the staff was patient and proactive in getting her something she could enjoy!
FRENCH TOAST
THE MENU: There were tons of choices and like typical non-buffet style brunches most items were a la carte so if you are a food pyramid type eater like me be prepared for a full tab. The FRENCH TOAST was AMAZING! It reminded me of a Beignet!

SHRIMP & GRITS

VERDICT: While the shrimp and grits weren't a home run with my friend and baby... the Chicken Philly hit the spot! My breakfast of French Toast, Hashed Potatoes, Ham and Cheese Grits(not very cheesy) put Jackson's back on my food radar 3 and 1/2 out of 5!

SN: I'm also enrolled in Delta Skymiles Dining... so not only did I get a good meal but I'm that much closer to a free flight!

I told ya! I would sneak ya'll in ... you know where...
To sum it up... it was super cool... I met tons of NICE people (insert shocked face)
The announcement seems to have been well received and the new title sponsor looks to be an amazing fit for the bowl game!
I got to meet the committee chairs at an awesome dinner meeting yesterday night after I sat in on a hospitality meeting (club level and sky boxes) and a sponsorship meeting at Starbucks (major beverage company)! I think I have to pinch myself at least once a day :)

ECOUTER: THE REVIEW

It's been a while since I posted a food review... I've still been eating but I seem to never have my camera on me to get the all important snaps!

CHICKEN ALFREDO w BROCCOLI : ZAZAS
Let's start with the good stuff... THIS PASTA WAS SOOOOO YUMMY and a added bonus... it was super cute! lol! I can't remember the fancy name that they assigned it but I did make some substitutions to it by adding chicken and leaving out the olives.... my only complaint is my broccoli was a little scorched.
APPLE PAN DOLCE
I had to have something to accompany the lovely pasta and I settled for this apple bread pudding (sorry the fancy name escaped me again... not sure if it was apple pan dolce)... I won't write much about it as it wouldn't be fair... I had the MOST AMAZING BREAD PUDDING the weekend before in Tuscaloosa and I don't think anybodies BP will be able to compete any time soon.
(pic coming soon)

BEIGNETS: CAFE DUPONT
I've been wanting to eat at CAFE DUPONT for a while now... and since it's right down the street I think the time will come soon. However, I stopped in for a quick dessert to go and ....
it didn't go as well as I had hoped. I wasn't very impressed by the costly powdered dough. I guess I'm use to the traditional Cafe Du monde bengiets. I hope the rest of the menu is more suitable. As I am all about second chances!

PASS GO

So I promised I would post about my new gig...
It's SUPER EXCITING and I work with an AMAZING group of people.
I mean they do IT ALL! I feel like I'm in college again taking a crash course( I actually am considering return to school!)

Here's the fairy tale of how I landed my EVENT ASSISTANT position with ESPN!

While I am currently employed full-time... it never stops me for job hunting. There is so much I want and will do in life... long story short I was on my ritual job hunt online and came across an ad for a part time event coordinator... I applied and was shortly contacted by a recruiter who informed me the position was with ESPN... drop face... after some interviewing, referencing, scheduling and prayer... I just completed the first month of my 4 month contract !

I'm not too sure if I'm allowed to blog/ post pictures about my work lol... but if you don't tell, I won't tell lol... I get to go to my first press conference tomm... I'll see if I can sneak yall in!

TANGIBLE: INTANGIBLE

via APARTMENT THERAPY
I've got to figure out how to make my place this chic

I haven’t done an emini post in a while and so here goes… this past weekend I returned to my alma mater for homecoming and while walking around “club hopping” (if that’s what you want to call it we more so stood around outside a couple of places) we happen to walk into a lounge…

I’m pretty shy (gasp) and so my strategy is always to preoccupy myself when entering a place… I fidgeted with my cell phone as if I was uber busy …. Well as I aimlessly “busied myself” and followed closely behind my friends I heard a loud “LAQuuuuuuin!” I turned to be embraced by a familiar face… we paid each other compliments … she gushed over the shoulder pads of my dress and we chatted some more…I felt my friends walk back towards me and kind of stand back as me and the old friend chatted… I glanced around and noticed that I knew quite a few of the faces in the room … my friends quickly let me know they weren’t interested in hanging out at the venue… I said ok and followed them as we swiftly retreated back outside… and then the discussion…

a third party to our group who didn’t attend school with us questioned why we were leaving the venue … we had been walking around for a while and hadn’t found a budget friendly spot to visit and this place was packed and had no cover charge… after some chatting we walked around a corner and took a seat in a closed pizza shop… and then my friends made it clear… they didn’t want to hang out there because they didn’t want to spend the night being “quin’s friends” “third wheels”… I never knew my friends felt this way but if I looked at the signs I could have seen them a mile away…

I don’t peg myself to be the popular type but I do know lots of people, most people apparently think I’m likable and I like to think I’m a unique individual (lol) and I can relate to all types of people which makes fitting in or getting to know people pretty easy once I’m over my shyness… not to mention I’m a Gemini… I can’t lie when I reflect on my circle of friends now compared to my circle of friends when I first started college the ladies are quite different…

I began college with a group of pretty girls, interested in trendy fashion, greek life (super important at my college), and they were fairly popular (that’s not all they were good for they were smart, funny etc. too) and now my friends aren’t the norm of pretty, don’t wear the latest designers and none of them are greek… but they are very spiritual, creative, loyal, respectful, smart and super fun girls! Like I said I won’t lie I’ve been tempted times before to seek out a new circle reminiscent of the old days (gossip girls, girlfriends, and sex and the city will do it to ya) but then I reflect on how grounded and motivated my friends keep me now… I love luxury and style and fashion and power and exclusivity but I also know that too much of those things can bring out the inner #monster…

I know what type of person I am and as I still sketch on the person I want to be I realize it’s not depended upon the tangibility of the people in my inner circle but on the intangible characteristics that they bring to my life. The way I see it there are no rules to cool or popular … I appreciate and love all my friends from the present to the past and the future!
