INSPIRED: SUJEAN RIM
Quite a while ago... I was "wish" shopping in one of my Tiffany and Co. catalogs and I remember being so in love with the illustrations in the campaign... Today as I was struggling to design an invitation... I thought back to those illustrations and of course I hit up google....

OLD AND NEW FRIENDS
So... I've been absent from the blog for a minute but get ready for a bunch of updates! My camera was giving me issues with uploading all of the photos I have been taking for you guys! So a quick run down of what I have been up to.... I finally signed up for that American Sign Language class and it's way more intense than I thought it would be.... I got a desk for my office and I call it Josephine (actually World Market named her that) but I love working in my office ... Drawing Class.... taught by one of my former high school classmates (we actually were in art club together) and hosted by a new found friend and museum education coordinator.... It's super cool to revisit drawing 101... #inthecity... I love living in the city and today actually marks my one year anniversary of being a condo owner... my first trip to Railroad park was to see one of my favorite movies The Devil Wears Prada... did I mention I love my #newandoldfriendsinthecity!
WIZARDS & COURAGE
THE WIZARD OF OZ: ALABAMA THEATER
A few weeks ago one of my favorite ex co-workers invited me out to help him celebrate his Bornday! We started out at the super amazingly gorgeous historic Alabama Theater to view The Wizard of Oz!
The Super Cutie Patootie Birthday Boy!
CHARLEMANGE RECORDS : 5pts South Birmingham AL
Next stop ... THE coolest record store I have ever been in... well the only record shop I've ever been in lol! THRIFTING: RECORD PLAYER
We wrapped it all up with another first for me... Thrifting! Me being the newbie and knowing my genetics hold a trace of "hoarding" potential, I was super careful not to get in over my head!
But I've been wanting a record player for some time now (visiting the record store didn't help this obsession) so every time we saw one we became technicians of sorts attempting to resurrect the discard gems... unfortunately two vintage and a carebear player later no luck :(
LION HEAD SCARF HOLDER: COURAGE
It wasn't a total wasted trip though ...
I found the most amazing lion head scarf holder!
Happy Bornday to my TB! I had tons of fun!

HOPE DIAMOND
The other day I was thinking about a relationship I had with a coworker of mine… no not like that… but I started ride sharing with a lovely lady from work… she is so lively… she chats me up the whole way to work … which is only a few blocks… usually she tells me about her grandchildren or her work for Jehovah… Her love for her grand kids is undeniable and I joked with her one morning that she made me feel bad for not having any kids and affording my mother something I know she desires…grandchildren and a son in law.
The more I rode the more I learned about her past life and the changes she had made… she loves to talk and I barely say a few words lol… but I feel like I know her whole family and the drama that comes along with it as well…lol…
Last night I received an unexpected call from my ride share coworker… late in the night… I figured she was going to tell me that she had something coming up and couldn't pick me up in the morning… but there was more to it than that she told me that her 8 year old grandson had drowned … I presumed sometime over the weekend… I expressed my condolences and went on to an uncomfortable sleep deprived night…
I had met her grandson about a month back he was busy burying his face into burger king that his grandma had purchased for him but seemed like a normal vibrant kid… I could look at him and visualize all the funny stories she had told me about him…His passing made me remember my brothers long passed on, and my sister who I have reflected on with quick flash visuals of her small casket pictured on the Polaroid’s in the family album…
For Easter I prepared dinner and my parents were my first dinner guest…The joy on my parents face to come and eat dinner at their daughter’s house was indescribable… I guess I write all of this a little out of sorrow for my friends lost, sorrow for the inevitable that I and my parents will eventually leave this earth… and in inquisition of if I will ever have children or find another human being to share myself with for hopefully as long as my mother and fathers 35 years and beyond…what is clear is that life is about living and love is the purest form of living and as my mother says unconditional love…is in my future, past and present.
(No apologies for the grammar or lack of punctuation, when I write I let the words flow)

PASS GO
So I promised I would post about my new gig...
I mean they do IT ALL! I feel like I'm in college again taking a crash course( I actually am considering return to school!)
Here's the fairy tale of how I landed my EVENT ASSISTANT position with ESPN!
While I am currently employed full-time... it never stops me for job hunting. There is so much I want and will do in life... long story short I was on my ritual job hunt online and came across an ad for a part time event coordinator... I applied and was shortly contacted by a recruiter who informed me the position was with ESPN... drop face... after some interviewing, referencing, scheduling and prayer... I just completed the first month of my 4 month contract !
I'm not too sure if I'm allowed to blog/ post pictures about my work lol... but if you don't tell, I won't tell lol... I get to go to my first press conference tomm... I'll see if I can sneak yall in!

It's SUPER EXCITING and I work with an AMAZING group of people.

when you BELIEVE

- You go on tour even though you haven't had a new album out for 7 years
- You sale out 20 of 33 shows
- Your snippet (1 min 38 secs) of a song on your forthcoming album is #35 on "The 80 Best Songs of 08" list.
I BELIEVE: the above perceived measures of "success" are insignificant in relation to your ability to believe in and preserve "pure artistry"... did I mention... You amazingly still manage to feel the need to say "Thank you!"
*If you know me then you know it takes a lot to get my "attention" especially when I know you "want" or "need" it. I have never had a mentor... and so the "when you BELIEVE" post will highlight people that are "true" to me...
