DIY: FROG IN A FRAME

 KERMIT CLEIN
I picked up this Kermit Clein poster for probably around ten bucks at a poster sale in college. He is around eleven years old and unfortunately he showed it! I couldn’t get rid of him though and I felt like he had been folded up (yeah I know) for far too long! So I set out on one of many DIY projects I plan to share with you guys!
STEP 1. Select frames to fit your poster. Play around with sizing and directions until you fill you have the perfect configuration.

I was intrigued and inspired by many DIY photo walls and collages that played with sizes shapes and colors of groupings of frames and I thought why can’t I do the same with Kermit!

I headed to Hobby Lobby on a frame sale week and took a look around. Of course the newbie DIYer that I am I did not have my poster in hand and I grabbed one that looked similar in size to base my frame needs off of (nope I didn’t get all technical and divide and subtract which is probably the correct way to do this project). I grabbed some frames and played around with them until I felt like I had the best fit…
STEP 2.Prep your poster. If your poster is as loved as mine then you may need to take some time taping up tears and patching up holes. I used regular clear magic tape. I toyed with the idea of trying to iron out the poster but decided against it and I believe over time the hanging of the paper with loosen up some of the wrinkles.
STEP 3: My frames for this project are The Archives Quick Frame from Hobby Lobby. They have a hard paper backing. I placed the backs on the poster in the configuration that I decide upon and once they were all in place I traced around each one carefully with a pencil.

With the awkward sizes of readily available framing I quickly found nothing would be perfect and I came to terms with being ok with losing a little bit of the poster to the cutting room floor!

STEP 4: After I traced out my frame backs I cut out the pieces.

STEP 5: Frame each piece of the poster in it’s respective frame

Step 6: Hang for the finished product! So my first go round I decided to use removable hooks… not a good idea for a bathroom/next to a shower with steam  etc… location. The first night I lost one frame and out of fear I took down the others.I decided to go the tried and true route of hammer and nail!

PRINCESS & THE FROG

Yes! Yes! Yes! IKR! After lusting and hunting (WISH LIST)
and wanting I finally got my frog belt buckle!
It's a Doreen Ryan and I got it on ebay for a steal (under 20 bucks)! I took it into the shoe repair store next to my building and they put it on a belt for me for less than 10 bucks! I've gotten nothing but compliments on it... even from the people who thought I was crazy for wanting it in the first place lol! Now on to my next lust need... a Cartier Love Ring!

I told ya! I would sneak ya'll in ... you know where...
To sum it up... it was super cool... I met tons of NICE people (insert shocked face)
The announcement seems to have been well received and the new title sponsor looks to be an amazing fit for the bowl game!
I got to meet the committee chairs at an awesome dinner meeting yesterday night after I sat in on a hospitality meeting (club level and sky boxes) and a sponsorship meeting at Starbucks (major beverage company)! I think I have to pinch myself at least once a day :)

tHE Review: Precious

An excellent production the movie was well designed, produced, and written. Although the likelihood of a person experiencing such tremendous misfortune is small in comparison to those who will teeter on the brink of this type of social and emotional destruction; the move kept me engrossed and did an excellent job of pulling the viewer into the situation. I think the biggest disappointment is that while the movie moved people… I fear it did not move people… it was impossible to not feel sorrow and disgust… but what I hoped that people could acknowledge were the African American lesbian couple, the mental and emotional issues going unaddressed in the African American communities, and the programs that are working hard to provide alternative means of educational progress. While any accolades that this film receives, I duly believe it deserves, I would like to acknowledge the writer, producers, actors, and actresses for their willingness to take part in a movie with such purpose!

*I hate to do a disclaimer and this is not so much that… but people go straight into the “you a hater” mode when you disagree with the mainstream… so here is where I am coming from… I’m an artist… as an artist … I will never think my work is perfect… the way I judge good art… in the genre of theatrics… side note: art is subjective and judgment of it is so far from a scientific logic and that is why I in some ways disagree with award shows where artist are judged against each other… in the genre of theatrics… what I’m looking for in a good actor is someone who steps outside of their normal pre-established characteristics and provides a convincing performance… that persons ability to maintain that high level of performance throughout their career… and the ability to grow into other distinctive types of characters and yet still return to roles that are “typical” of their acting catalog… makes an actor/actress deserving of accolades… In simpler terms… a singer portraying a singer of their genre (even if from a different time period), or someone with aggressive tendencies acting as someone with aggressive tendencies does not translate as talent worthy of extraordinary artistic praise!

KEEBLER

So I gave up my personal trainer last month.... I originally got a personal trainer because I was obviously out of shape and needed motivation. I spent a year with Peggy Keebler 2x a week 40 min. I have maintained a thirty pound loss and tons of inches and all that hocus p. I will be contacting Peggy next week and setting up my Sept return... all because of...

MIDNIGHT WINGS AND VEGGIE PIZZA yes that's a drink in the background :(

COOKIE CRUNCH GELATO the second one this month

GRILLED CHEESE (CHEDDAR) . FRUIT. FRUIT JUICE pecan waffles the day before

In my defense: I have been working out sporadically & I am trying to keep my water intake up!

it's yo money/ not my mind: v. 2.0

Again, thousands of movie fanatics will hit the movie theaters this weekend. Most of them are setting out to see Obsessed, staring Idris Elba and Beyonce Knowles. Some will patronize Robert Downey Jr and Jamie Foxx in The Soloist.... Here's my two cents... GO SEE THE SOLOIST... this movie is OSCAR WORTHY... Obsessed is not even on the Oscar radar... The Soloist NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT NOW... you can go see Obsessed next week!... now for the real movie review... as an artist who knows that my talent is a gift/blessing... the soloist just solidified my views... my mother always told me that no matter what anyone said or did they could not take my talent away from me... the Soloist was a great example of this idea... no element of the world has that power... I haven't experienced anything that has brought me greater joy and fear than my gift!
