LML: HOUSE - HOME

Wondering what I've been up to this past month? Hmmm... well I haven't been totally lazy! One of my new obsessions is DIY/Home Design blogs... I'll share some of my favorites with you soon as they are super inspirational! So...I decided to get back on task in turning my condo into a 'home" that reflects my personality! I started with the room I "thought" would be the easiest to transform and require the least amount of help!
My Room of Rest! It started out as this super blank canvas...
and then I got a little stripe happy!
I LOVE my Magenta door!
It's still a work in progress and I can't wait to finish up the painting so I can style and stage! Stay tuned for the final product!

So a quick run down of what I have been up to.... I finally signed up for that American Sign Language class and it's way more intense than I thought it would be.... I got a desk for my office and I call it Josephine (actually World Market named her that) but I love working in my office ...  Drawing Class.... taught by one of my former high school classmates (we actually were in art club together) and hosted by a new found friend and museum education coordinator.... It's super cool to revisit drawing 101...  #inthecity... I love living in the city and today actually marks my one year anniversary of being a condo owner... my first trip to Railroad park was to see one of my favorite movies The Devil Wears Prada... did I mention I love my #newandoldfriendsinthecity!

PIZZERIA: I'M FEELING SUPER ITALIAN
Every since I discovered the fresh pizza dough in the publix bakery I can't stop making pizzas! I'm still around and having tons of fun! It's so different not working more than one job and having all this free time! Unfortunately lazybones time is almost ova.. emini post coming soon!

CONFESSIONS: EXTREME COUPONER IN TRAINING

 I saw the show...
and I was immediately hooked...
My goal isn't to stockpile tons of stuff
If I get just a few items for free
I will feel like an EXTREME COUPONER!
For some odd reason there are never any Sunday papers in the box in front of my building so now I take early Sunday morning strolls to the newspaper headquarters a couple of blocks away.
Technology...
I'm building up my stock pile of coupons and studying sales trends!I can't wait to put my plan in action!

laquininthecity: PLANE ON A TRAIN

My first train trip was quite an ADVENTURE!
 Of course I couldn't help myself ...
I packed a super cute snack box for my travel companion!
 Funny Story #1
The Station was super packed with families traveling for the holiday. Most of the people on the train were headed to New Orleans so to say the least it was an interesting crowd! Let's just say we got "adopted" into a group of about six people needing to up their numbers so they could qualify for group seating... this random old guy kept saying "come on cousins" and waving us along to join his group... HILARIOUS! Did I mention he had on the most amazing loud blue pants and tan gator shoes!

Destination: Tuscaloosa for the Cline's Wedding
We soooo got on the wrong train car for our destination and ended up having to travel three cars up with all of our crap on a moving train to get off at our stop! I felt like I was in a Denzel movie crossing those cars!
 PLANE on a TRAIN
The guys next to us were having a Bachelor Party weekend!
They were not playing! Drinks for days! Congrats Luke!

  Crazy Story #2
On our return trip we decided to get something to eat... although super cute the Dining Car lacked in choices so we ended up in the Snack Car... hmmm... the gentleman above was super busy "getting to know" one of the passengers on the train that a line had begun to form and we were all discussing whether or not we were interested in actually getting something to eat... he was so far gone in his "convo" he didn't even notice smh!

HOME SWEET HOME!
Beyond the train always being late and
the lack of food options
I had soooooooooo much fun and can't wait til the next adventure!
The super cute table in the Dining Car!

DINNER STAGING

I ABSOLUTELY LIVE FOR LIVE FLOWERS

CLEAN LINES
I THINK I'M MARTHA S.: JUST CALL ME LRT. STEWART

Just a glimpse into what this past Sunday looked liked... I had tons of fun and can't wait till Thanksgiving when I go full out! It's kinda a shame that the lady at the floral shop (who constantly over charges me) knows my face ..."You look like you really love flowers"

SN: I am planning on starting a window garden... I'll keep ya posted!

HOPE DIAMOND

The other day I was thinking about a relationship I had with a coworker of mine… no not like that… but I started ride sharing with a lovely lady from work… she is so lively… she chats me up the whole way to work … which is only a few blocks… usually she tells me about her grandchildren or her work for Jehovah… Her love for her grand kids is undeniable and I joked with her one morning that she made me feel bad for not having any kids and affording my mother something I know she desires…grandchildren and a son in law.

The more I rode the more I learned about her past life and the changes she had made… she loves to talk and I barely say a few words lol… but I feel like I know her whole family and the drama that comes along with it as well…lol…

Last night I received an unexpected call from my ride share coworker… late in the night… I figured she was going to tell me that she had something coming up and couldn't pick me up in the morning… but there was more to it than that she told me that her 8 year old grandson had drowned … I presumed sometime over the weekend… I expressed my condolences and went on to an uncomfortable sleep deprived night…

I had met her grandson about a month back he was busy burying his face into burger king that his grandma had purchased for him but seemed like a normal vibrant kid… I could look at him and visualize all the funny stories she had told me about him…His passing made me remember my brothers long passed on, and my sister who I have reflected on with quick flash visuals of her small casket pictured on the Polaroid’s in the family album…

For Easter I prepared dinner and my parents were my first dinner guest…The joy on my parents face to come and eat dinner at their daughter’s house was indescribable… I guess I write all of this a little out of sorrow for my friends lost, sorrow for the inevitable that I and my parents will eventually leave this earth… and in inquisition of if I will ever have children or find another human being to share myself with for hopefully as long as my mother and fathers 35 years and beyond…what is clear is that life is about living and love is the purest form of living and as my mother says unconditional love…is in my future, past and present.

(No apologies for the grammar or lack of punctuation, when I write I let the words flow)

HOUSE:HOME

FANCY= DRAMATIC I've been working hard on transforming my condo into my home... the replacement light bulb for this thing is slowing down my ability to see the fruits of my labor! MINK: ON MY WALLS
With my living room and office painted I'm making great progress...
DINE IN
I got my dining room furniture before I began to paint...
blah and farewell to the wall color!

POLO OCCASIONAL
I searched high and low for pieces within my budget but still stylish I have two of these I.O. Metro beauties... only complaint... no springs in the cushion

A SOFA
I searched high and low until I just didn't care anymore
and that is the story of my apartment sized sleeper sofa.
I still have a long way to go but I have to say that it's beginning to look quite cozy!

She makes sure that 4 out of the 5 days per week she has an event/ meeting to go to. On the weekends she aims for 3. I've got 2 free evenings this week in which I will put on my Emagine hat but my weekend is super clear... I got to get it together!
