PENNY PINCH
I posted on my lust for a pair of penny loafers a while back.
While I didn't get the BASS WEEJUNS I did get two pairs of the Cole Haan Pinch Penny!
Burgundy and Black... I can't wait to show em off!
INterVENTion
It started off slow with the PINEAPPLE juice.
The slim container just felt so chic to me!I was going through BRUNCH withdrawal and found
The Burger King MIMOSA... Hi My name is.... and I'm addicted to the McCafe Mocha Frappe...
Seriously you don't understand the progression of my "drinking" problem... I just looked back on the signs that I missed on my way to this point... I indulged in a Mocha for three weeks straight... the first day I missed one I went psycho and scared a volunteen to death
by mid day I felt the withdrawal symptoms... I don't know how people do drugs... it's crazy not being in control of your body... HELP!

THE REVIEW: 26
REVIEW: So I have been promising this review forever and I final had the time to actually sit down again in one of my favorite spots. (I have to admit I have never been to the restaurant for anything besides happy hour and lunch to-go)
DESSERT: Yeah I know that comes last... but it's my review so it comes FIRST!
I couldn't put the fork down! The cheesecakes consistency was exactly on point and the macadamia nuts brought amazing flavor and were a great addition to the texture ! Accompanied by fresh berries and candied orange slices my only complaint would be that I would have loved for the sauce to have been incorporated more... maybe just a drizzle on top... I found myself scraping the plate with every bite for a dab of sauce. I saved the best for last THE MIMOSA TRUFFLE... I could have taken an order of them with one of their freshly made ice-creams and the lovely barely enough sauce and I would have been in heaven!

ATMOSPHERE: Totally trendy. The selling point has to be mentioned... the garage doors that allow the eatery to be converted into an open air restaurant! Brings big style to this little city!
* I should get my low point of my meal out of the way... I'm not a drinker but the first drink I ever had and really liked besides a Mimosa I had at 26! It's the Kermit The Frog Martini... I usually have one on my birthday as a celebration and was totally disappointed when the waiter told me the new bartender did not know how to make the drink... so ginger-ale it was for me. I should also mention they were having a free wine tasting that night so if you aren't partial to anything particular I'm sure they have something for you!
THE FOOD: Spectacular as always... I stuck with my tried and true Happy Hour pleasures... Sesame Peanut Sauce/Chicken Satay and the always amazing Gouda Macaroni and Cheese (off of the regular menu)
VERDICT: If you have read my "to-go" review then you already know I don't have anything bad to say about 26... The staff is always pleasant and more than accommodating and I love dining in the city and there just aren't many options so I commend 26 for sticking in there and providing Birmingham with this wonderful option!

tHE reVIEW: TheKarate Kid
I have to start off with a huge kudos for the location scout and the cinematography... I felt like I had my passport stamped! The locations were simply beautiful! I hadn't seen a good "family action" film in a while so this movie was a perfect void filler. I appreciated that in remaking a classic the writers took an honest approach of making the film their own while respecting and paying homage to the original film. While the story line didn't pack a major punch it was to the point and predictable enough to keep you engrossed. Did I mention that the scenic shots were AMAZING! The young star of the film did well considering the topic and complexity of the roll. I was a bit disappointed by the delivery and believability of the karate kid character and I'll write it off as this wasn't meant to be an OSCAR worthy performance film. With many years ahead of the young actor I look forward to seeing his growth. *My mother was dying to see this movie and we ended up in a packed theater :(.
