CONfessions #52

ON COMPLAINING: " I figure that there is always somebody else out there worse off than you... if your fortunate enough to wake up ... and see the green grass... you're already BLESSED!"

BETWEEN HEAVY COUGHS: "I need to stop smoking, stop drinking, lose weight...get rid of this belly, and stop chasing wild women... but then I would be bored and die"

LML: As I got on the elevator at work .... a very cheerful woman holding a crossword book greeted me with a big HELLO ... she asked me how I was doing... I put on my fake cheerful and did the same... we got to our floor ... she was going to the left... I to the right... she replied " I'm a little tired and I thought I was going to be late... but actually I'm early for my chemo..."

thE REVIEW: ARMORED

I have a list of movies I need to see ... finally got to this one... was determined ... and it did not disappoint... I was really excited to see Mr. Short in this leading role! The story line was typical the acting was up to par and honestly I think I was just so overjoyed to see Mr. Short in this genre. I like to see people do things that are out of the norm for their preconceived image. The action scenes were well done... just think about extra large armored trucks racing around an abandon steel yard... so many obstacles to make it seem light and intense and believable... The movie had a lot of underlying "life lessons" so you know it's a see for me... good family night flick... should be on DVD soon!

I can stunt all day in the remedial class but I fear what it will feel like if I move to the honors class and I'm last... at the end of the day it's me...

tHE Review: Precious

An excellent production the movie was well designed, produced, and written. Although the likelihood of a person experiencing such tremendous misfortune is small in comparison to those who will teeter on the brink of this type of social and emotional destruction; the move kept me engrossed and did an excellent job of pulling the viewer into the situation. I think the biggest disappointment is that while the movie moved people… I fear it did not move people… it was impossible to not feel sorrow and disgust… but what I hoped that people could acknowledge were the African American lesbian couple, the mental and emotional issues going unaddressed in the African American communities, and the programs that are working hard to provide alternative means of educational progress. While any accolades that this film receives, I duly believe it deserves, I would like to acknowledge the writer, producers, actors, and actresses for their willingness to take part in a movie with such purpose!

*I hate to do a disclaimer and this is not so much that… but people go straight into the “you a hater” mode when you disagree with the mainstream… so here is where I am coming from… I’m an artist… as an artist … I will never think my work is perfect… the way I judge good art… in the genre of theatrics… side note: art is subjective and judgment of it is so far from a scientific logic and that is why I in some ways disagree with award shows where artist are judged against each other… in the genre of theatrics… what I’m looking for in a good actor is someone who steps outside of their normal pre-established characteristics and provides a convincing performance… that persons ability to maintain that high level of performance throughout their career… and the ability to grow into other distinctive types of characters and yet still return to roles that are “typical” of their acting catalog… makes an actor/actress deserving of accolades… In simpler terms… a singer portraying a singer of their genre (even if from a different time period), or someone with aggressive tendencies acting as someone with aggressive tendencies does not translate as talent worthy of extraordinary artistic praise!

So last year I did this post and I decided to revisit the concept... as you can see I'm up for the non-traditional... Honestly NM didn't have the best selection this year. I do appreciate the recession friendly "KIT" choices... HURRY UP: DEC 19TH is the last day to ORDER

BURSTING GRAPES...

Apparently neither Saks, Kenneth Cole, or Lord & Taylor are in need of revenue.
Must be nice to flourish in the mist of a recession... Yep... why call or email a customer whose money we have already charged and let them know that the item they ordered is no longer available ... nope... even when they call me and ask me whats the hold up ... I just lie and say oh its going out today... EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THAT THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE ITEM IS SHIPPING TODAY BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANY MORE!!!!!... oh and never forget that it is only a week or so before CHRISTMAS... and they might have been ordering the items for GIFTS!.... That is all...

SPOTTED many moons ago in BAZAAR ...

em . in . i = PART TIME WIFE...

For some reason the mailman is blessing me with free Marie Claire's .... umm... Thanks!.... so I thumbed through the Jan issue and found this article about " The Weekend Wives" ... I know... interesting concept..

Three twenty somethings who only see their husbands on the weekends dished about how they make it work... constant streaming video chat and up to $150 dollar/5 hr weekly commutes... of course non of them seemed thrilled with the situation... and I don't know how much longer they will be married... but with all that's happening in pop culture/gossip news I'd say it was an ironic find...

Most of the "weekenders" are living distance marriages because of careers... one WW was quoted as saying the "unexpected upshot" was that she could dedicate more time to her career... I won't lie ... the concept seemed pretty cool when I read the tag line... but after I read the interview answers... these people seem miserable...

A boyfriend that's long distance is definitely different than a husband that's long distance... what was the reason they got married again? because their love knows no distance... ummm that's some movie fairytale b.s. this "love" thing is jacked up... it's going to take more than ... crawling till we can walk... jump and fly!... being in a relationship is way more stressful than being lonely on occasion... I mean I can focus on my career without changing my last name... unless I'm just looking for a locked in investor... if I'm looking to the world to give me love advice... I might as well.... I might as well... IDK.... lol...
